Student FAQ

If I enroll and begin a program at a cosmetology school, am I allowed to switch programs? (Example: From nail technology to cosmetology, from cosmetology to esthetician, etc.)

Refer to the contract that was signed when you enrolled in school and talk to your registrar. You may be eligible for a credit of hours towards the new program. A letter of credit would include the total amount of hours that would be usable towards the new program you enroll in, if allowed by the school.

Student FAQ

According to NRS 644A.360, I am qualified to take my exams and obtain a license because I have successfully completed the 10th grade, but the school requires me to have a high school diploma or equivalency. What should I do?

While the Board of Cosmetology only requires a 10th grade equivalency for licensing, some schools require a high school diploma or GED in order to enroll. This could be due to the school’s accreditation for federal funding, the school’s ownership as a corporation, or school policy. You can obtain a high school diploma or GED in order to enroll in the particular school with this requirement or look into the other licensed schools in our state here.
