Scope of Practice

A Limited License permits a licensed individual to perform limited services on clients outside of a licensed salon. To be eligible a person must be licensed as a(n) esthetician, cosmetologist, hair designer, or nail technologist.

NOTE: Makeup Artist, Threader, and Hair Braider registrations/licenses are not eligible for the Limited License.

 

Esthetics

​

Esthetic limited services that can be administered through a Limited License include:

​

● Applying makeup to the skin and applying false eyelashes.

Cosmetology

​

Cosmetology limited services that can be administered through a Limited License include:

​

● Tension on the hair stands such as twisting, wrapping, weaving, extending, locking, or braiding of the hair.

● Nonpermanent manipulation of the hair such as styling, wrapping, arranging, braiding, twisting, weaving, extending, fusing, dressing,       curling, setting, or straightening.

● Applying makeup on the skin and apply false eyelashes.

● Removing existing nail polish and apply nail polish.

Hair Design

​

● Nonpermanent manipulation of the hair such as styling, wrapping, arranging, braiding, twisting, weaving, extending, fusing, dressing, curling, setting, or straightening.

Nail Technology

​

● Removing existing nail polish and apply nail polish.
