Complaints can be filed by completing the online Consumer Complaint Form.
You can also call the Consumer Complaint Hotline at 1-800-433-1931. Please leave a detailed voicemail.

I just received a citation, but I cannot afford to pay at this time. How many days do I have until a payment is required?

Citations should be paid within ninety (90) days from when the citation was issued. Citations can be paid in office, online, or over the phone. Payment plans are available. Please email info@nvcosmo.com.

Are inspection reports, compliance reviews, and citations available as public information?

Yes, this information can be obtained by using the Salon Inspection Report Lookup. Compliance Reviews are displayed on the website 6 months after the date of issuance. Citations are displayed on the website for 12 months after the date of issuance. Inspection Reports are displayed on the website for 12 months after the inspection.

What is a citation?

Citations are issued as a form of disciplinary action to licensees who violate or are not in compliance with NRS Chapter 644A or NAC Chapter 644A. Citations are issued by Board Inspection Staff. Citations have associated fees/fines that must be paid. Citations remain on your records with the Board as violations and disciplinary action. Citation history will be shared with other State Boards should you request a license certification to be sent to another state.

What is a compliance review?

Compliance reviews are issued as a form of disciplinary action to licensees who violate or are not in compliance with NRS Chapter 644A or NAC Chapter 644A. Compliance reviews are issued by Board Inspection Staff. Compliance reviews do not accrue fees or fines. Compliance reviews may require repairs or corrections to be made that may need to be reported to Board staff accordingly. Compliance reviews may result in a follow-up visit from Board Inspection Staff.

What do the inspectors look for when completing the first inspection of my new salon before it opens?

Inspectors follow a checklist for first inspections that can be reviewed on our website. This checklist will serve as a guideline to salon owners. Any questions regarding first inspections can be sent to inspection@nvcosmo.com. If the first inspection is not passed, a reinspection will be scheduled after a $25 reinspection fee is paid.

What happens if a citation issued to a salon or licensee is not paid?

Unpaid citations will withhold you from being able to renew your individual license or salon license.

Can I make payments toward the total amount due for my citation?

Yes. The amount due for a citation can be paid via a set payment plan. Please contact inspection@nvcosmo.com to set up a payment plan. Payments cannot be made towards licensing fees or late fees, only citations.

I believe I was wrongly issued a citation. What can I do?

If you would like to contest a citation issued to you or your salon, you may petition the Board. You can submit a petition to the Board on our website. You will receive correspondence after submitting your petition informing you of the Board meeting date that your petition will go before the Board. You must be present at the Board meeting if you have submitted a petition to be reviewed.

Can inspectors open drawers and cabinets in a salon?

Yes. Inspectors are able to inspect a salon in its entirety. This includes drawers, cabinets, closets, work stations, treatment rooms, restrooms, etc.

When can an inspector perform a salon inspection?

Inspectors are able to inspect a salon if it is open and/or operating. This includes weekends and evenings. Salon inspections are able to be performed outside of the Nevada State Board office hours.

Will I be notified if a complaint is made against me or my salon?

If the consumer complaint is within the juridiction of the Board, you or the salon will be notified of the complaint. Details regarding the complaintant are confidential unless formal administrative action is taken.
